If you were on the fence about CoE3, you have a chance to get it pretty cheap right now.

So I'm playing around with Necromancers. Despite having one of the least reliable spellcasting schools, they do have a lot going for them. However, I find myself needing to ask: where the hell do you find old castles or ancient temples? What eras should I be playing on. I've scoured entire maps with apprentices by the dozen without finding a suitable site.

I forget where, but I recall this same question being asked on the CoE forums and the dev responding that there is always at least one old castle and ancient temple per map. That said, those could be somewhere crazy like an island off the coast or buried in the opposite corner of the map, making it impractical (to say the least) to get at. I think you are better off going with whatever the era is which is supposed to be the empire in ruins, with a ruined 4-tile city and lots of crumbling forts and villages covering the landscape, stuffed full of bandits and what-not. I believe that era has a higher chance of having more than one old castle and ancient temple. I don't recall what that era's name is; it's been quite a while since I last played CoE.

Holy shit, I finally got my Vampire and he's amazing. Incredibly worth the Hands. I can seriously fly around soloing trolls and gryphons and shit with my armor and my multiple drain spells. It helps to wear an ethereal cloak, a berserk pendant, a magic sword, and skeleton-generator. The only downside is discovering exciting new afflictions like "temporary insanity." And not being sure how much insanity you can cleanse by eating a farm.

Don't you just cure all of it? I think that's how it worked in CoE2
